My friend Willis Smith was ordained as a deacon at his church tonight. Sue and I went together and surprised him and his family by being there. It was a good service, with hymns and vocal ensembles singing. It was fun being in a traditional service and sanctuary after worshipping in warehouse for so long, and it was special to see him show publicly his willingness to serve the Lord this way. I didn't go up when they called for all ordained deacons to lay hands on him and the others being ordained, but I did give him a big hug after the service. Way to go, Willis!
