I took a great opportunity this week: I visited Indianapolis Center (ZID), a sister facility that controls the airspace to the north of Atlanta Center. I spent the day in their Traffic Management Unit, and heard about how they handle their relationship with the rest of the control room and their adjacent facilities. They do a good job as a "middle" facility, managing the flows of aircraft into 6 different major airports. They think highly of us at Atlanta, and do a good job in limiting restrictions they put out.
I enjoyed my visit, and enjoyed hearing some of the storiea they had about one of my former bosses (sorry, Doug). Though they are out of the way I look forward to visiting ZID again sometime in the future.
